The Brodhead Watershed Association recently recognized Robert K Ace Jr. Construction for becoming a Friend of the Watershed at their 28th Annual Celebration of Members and Friends titled “Working Together Conversations and Collaboration”. This year the event was held at the Pocono Manor where the keynote speaker was Seamus McGraw, an award-winning author and journalist from northeastern Pennsylvania.
Dedicated to protecting and improving water resources and the environment in the Brodhead and Cherry Creek Watershed, the Brodhead Watershed Association (BWA) operates as a non-profit organization. The BWA protects natural resources through education, workshops, seminars, public programs, stream monitoring & baseline data collection, and stream cleanups as they assist the region’s municipalities, residents, businesses, and groups. The Brodhead Watershed encompasses many square miles of territory in the Pocono Mountains and includes a vast array of municipalities in Monroe county and Pike county, PA. In simple terms, a watershed is basically a creek and all the land around it. People sometimes also refer to watersheds as drainage basins. The Brodhead Watershed Association connects the communities within it due to their common interdependence for needed water resources. Many who support the Brodhead Watershed consider the areas contained creeks and streams to be the best indicator of stewardship of the land and water resources the surrounding people depend on.
Robert Ace felt it was important to contribute to the efforts of this local, worthwhile organization because, “The Brodhead and Cherry Creek Watersheds are critical to this area. As the current stewards of our community, I feel it is our duty to ensure the next generation receives the environment in a better condition than we did.” Ace looks forward to building more homes in a community that cares about protecting the natural resources that make it a beautiful place to live and work.
