And he’s right. Recent studies show that 72 percent of the currently used plastic is neither recovered nor recycled, which has resulted in 8 million tons of it in our oceans. “At that rate,” he says, “It’s estimated that by the year 2050, there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish.”
In short, carrying cute reusable shopping bags will not only help make your kids excited about the prospect of eating healthy fruits and vegetables, but it just may help save the planet.
