Republic Services is donating 150 tickets for the Capital Air Show 2015, October 2-4, 2015 to local schools for disadvantaged youth.
Established in 2004, the California Capital Airshow has become one of the largest and highly respected shows in the nation. As part of its community relations, the non-profit organization awards scholarships to deserving students from the region with an interest in aviation, aerospace, aeronautics and STEM-related fields. The California Capital Airshow strives to honor the past while inspiring future leaders to do great things.
Recent findings in the Community Development Block Grant 2011-2016 consolidation plan identified that one of the “most critical social service needs identified by the Rancho Cordova community is gang prevention, closely followed by after school and recreation programs for teens and youth.” The community also identified the need for “drug and alcohol programs for teens and youth, and academic support for youth outside of or after school as high or critical.”
As stakeholders in the community locally and regionally, Republic Services saw this as an opportunity to give back to the local disadvantaged youth who may not otherwise have an opportunity to be exposed to or attend such an event.
“Supporting disadvantaged youth is something we absolutely believe in” stated Tony Cincotta, General Manager for Republic Services. “ We are happy to provide tickets for this great event.”
