The tradition of helping teachers in schools in the Greater Baton Rouge Area began in 2019, but the company has been making these donations on an annual basis ever since.The selection process is transparent: the company relies on its Facebook followers to nominate the teachers in the Greater Baton Rouge Area who they consider to be most committed to their students and most deserving of the donation. The pool construction company’s mission is to give back to education and inspire teachers to continue to promote academic achievements in the community.
In the words of Brunson Sayes, the company’s co-owner and CTO: “Every year, we pick a group of teachers and we ask them what they need in order to help their students succeed. Since a lot of teachers don't get reimbursed for school supplies that they buy themselves, we purchase the items they need and donate it to them. Here at Relief Pools, we believe lack of finances or funding must never get in the way of a child’s better education and better future.” Mr. Sayes continues: “We make these donations to give back to the younger generations in the community and show teachers that they are appreciated. We rely on others in the community to help us decide who gets a donation by having them share nominations on Facebook. We think this is a fair and lowkey unobtrusive way to choose the most deserving educators.”
