Tampa-based personal injury law firm, Kinney, Fernandez, & Boire is pleased to announce the winner of the 2019 KFB Academic Scholarship. The competition was open to current or upcoming college students, and applicants were encouraged to apply regardless of socioeconomic status. The award was open to international students who intended to pursue educational opportunities within the United States. The winner was selected shortly after the March 31, 2019 deadline.Applicants were required to complete an essay explaining, “What is one law that you think should be implemented to make the world a better place and why?” Entrants were required to answer in 500 words or less and could incorporate any legal practice area. The KFB Scholarship reflects the values of the law partners, who are committed to providing opportunities to up and coming students who show the promise and motivation to create meaningful change in their communities. The lucky essay contest scholarship recipient for 2019 is Ashley Yee. Her $1,000 award will support her education at Arizona State University.
Yee dedicates much of her time to her studies but also has a passion for baking and painting. She is completing her associate degree from Maricopa Community College and will be transferring to Arizona State University, Tempe Campus in Fall 2019 to pursue her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. Yee is also considering a minor concentration in a field that represents her mindful commitment to the community. She plans to work in education or with a nonprofit organization based on previous experience with such groups during her childhood. Her overall goal is to pursue a career and lifestyle that mirrors her commitment to making a difference for youth in America and beyond.
