Real Law helps the public easily find a trusted local lawyer on the back on client feedback. For small law firms, it will provide new clients via proven and profitable marketing systems.

NZ’s first nationwide law brand, ‘Real Law’, is a portal for New Zealanders looking for a lawyer they can trust, and a source of clients for lawyers.

“NZ’s first Nationwide Law brand “Real Law”, founded by Dennis Gates, a law practitioner in NZ for over 30 years, announces it’s successful launch, where 16 locations have been taken already.

Real Law provides small local NZ Law firms with the marketing horsepower of a National Brand, without them having to give up their identity. That is done via a 2 tier marketing system. ‘Local Marketing’ is where Real Law promotes a local firm’s own brand name in that firm’s local area. ‘National Marketing’ is where the Real Law brand is promoted nationally, and the clients generated are given to the member firm in the area from which the client comes. It’s exclusive, because only 1 law firm in each local area can join Real Law. Lawyers wanting more information can visit the Real Law website here.

Says founder and CEO, Dennis Gates, “When I went to law school, there was no marketing training. That’s odd, because ask any Lawyer, or any business owner, is being good at your profession, or being good at marketing more important to success? Everyone knows the answer is marketing. Being a good lawyer doesn’t set you apart, or give you an edge, because everyone already expects you to be good a lawyer anyway. Real Law exists to give small law firms that marketing edge they need to dominate their local area, so that they can focus on law, knowing that we will take care of their marketing, and get their phone ringing with new clients”.

In 2013, there were 3,546 Kiwi Law Firms with 3 or less partners. In 1986 NZ had 1 lawyer for every 681 people, now it’s 1 for every 383. “It appears there has been a growing need for lawyers. Laws are getting more complex and we have more of them,” said Law Society president Chris Moore, in 2016 . He also praised the local “generalist expected by their clients to help them with all their legal needs. The rising complexity of law meant they had to be talented individuals”, he said.

Gates from Real Law adds … “3,500 small Kiwi law firms are seen as ‘generalists’ by the public, but are working with more and more complexities in the law. That means they spend less time on marketing, the activity that matters most to their success. Real Law fixes that problem.”
