PMP®/CAPM® Certification Class Announced for DFW Area Jan/Feb 2020

The curriculum covers project management vocabulary, concepts, principles & formulas needed to prepare attendees to take the PMP®/CAPM® Certification Exam, 6 Saturdays starting 1/20/20 in DFW.

Project Management continues to be an important skill set for company growth and optimizing ROI. Often times, the success of a company Project will be determined by creating the right plan and executing the proper objectives. Companies now recognize PMP®/CAPM® Certification as important part of expertise of their key employees. Individuals with this certification need to update their expertise on a regular time schedule.


A standard certification curriculum will cover basic project management vocabulary, concepts, principles, and formulas needed to prepare session attendees to take the Project Management Professional (PMP)® and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification examinations. It includes key information related to the 5 Process Groups, 10 Knowledge Areas, and 49 processes defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. In addition, session participants will be instructed in best practices for learning and memorization.


For those who live in the Dallas Ft. Worth area the PMP®/CAPM® Certification Exam Prep Class will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 1600 Hurst Town Center Drive, Hurst, TX 76054 on Saturday, January 11, 18 & 25, February 1, 8 & 15 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm CT. The curriculum includes 40 hours of instruction, 3 textbooks, and the Fichtner PMP Exam Simulator.


The course instructor is Les Foley, Capt, USAF, Ret. Mr. Foley states, “PMP certification is recognized as the primary certification for successful projects. The course content will include informal lectures, quizzes, general discussions, and many emails sent out before, during, and after the course containing study material, preparatory assignments, and motivational tips. The coursework will include the following:


1. The primary function of the Project Manager.


2. The requirements for the PMP® and CAPM® certification.


3. The four values of the PMI® Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.


4. The difference between a project, a program, and a portfolio.


5. The names of the 5 Process Groups, 10 Knowledge Areas, and 49 processes addressed in the PMBOK® Guide, 6th Edition, Table 1-4.


6. How to solve mathematical questions related to communications channels, cost variance (CV), cost performance index (CPI), schedule variance (SV) and schedule performance index (SPI).


7. The purpose of the Project Charter.


8. The components that make up the Project Management Plan (PMP).


9. The difference between a risk and an issue.


10. The meaning of the letters “EEF” and “OPA” and give examples of each.


11. Answer PMP® and CAPM® exam questions based on the content contained in the PMBOK® Guide.
