Plaza Storage, Muscatine, Iowa's largest storage facility is proud to announce they are adding additional units for better storage solutions. Work began in May of this year for the planned expansion at the location found at 2301 Grandview Avenue. The facility is adding an additional 44 units, and 36 of the units will be 10'x20'. This is the most common size of the unit in this area, with the remaining units measuring 10'x10'.Plaza Storage is also adding a brand-new facility to 133 Colorado Street. The new facility will be well lit have common sizes, individual units will have lights inside the unit and a perimeter black steel fence. In addition, Plaza Storage recently added 30 RV storage and boat outdoor storage spaces to their Grandview Avenue location.
Mike Steele, the owner of Plaza Storage, said, “The Muscatine has plenty of storage units. The need comes from our customers who appreciate clean, well-kept units. Not all storage units are the same. Plaza Storage secures all units with access codes and cameras. Our most common size is 10' x 20' so we are adding more of those units. We are also adding additional cameras and each unit will have a motion light."
Plaza Storage has contracted with Heuer Construction, Inc. of Muscatine for the flat work. The buildings are manufactured from Trachte Building Systems, who specialize in storage unit buildings.
Plaza Storage will have four different facilities in Muscatine once the Colorado Street project is done. Steele stated that “having the multiple facilities allows for customers to have options when renting a space. Many customers rent seasonally, having an option to go to a different facility has been welcomed by customers.”

When the units were purchased from various owners, some of the owners were still using handwritten ledgers. The facilities now have a modern feel and updated technology. Customers can now rent units online, pay online and be in control of their experience.
Plaza Storage is a new name in the storage industry. Started in 2015, the brand is currently located in Muscatine, Iowa and is owned and operated by Muscatine Plaza Properties. Expansion plans and acquisition plans are in place, with the company looking towards a regional expansion.
