Paulson & Nace, PLLC Helps Connect Families During COVID-19

Donation of video conferencing devices to Deanwood Rehab and Wellness Center helps more loved ones connect, more often.

Video conferencing with families and friends has become a way of life for many during COVID-19, but for those living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, the simple act of seeing loved ones is often a challenge. Facilities have limited, if any, equipment. Initiating or receiving video calls requires significant advance planning.

The Washington D.C. law firm of Paulson & Nace, PLLC is working to change that. The firm is donating four video conferencing units to Deanwood Rehab and Wellness Center, making it easier for residents to connect to their loved ones with more frequency.

“Recently, the message we have all been getting is ‘now is a time to slow down and connect with our loved ones,’” said attorney Christopher T. Nace. “But for those living in institutions, this simply is not possible. We want our donation to help individuals in these facilities to be able to remain in contact with their families and friends so that they too feel included and cared for during these lonely and isolating times.”

The donation by Paulson & Nace, PLLC is part of a national outreach event known as the Injury Board Day Of Action — a collaborative effort by the nation’s leading plaintiff’s attorneys to make a difference in their local communities.

“When we're at our best, attorneys help people,” said Attorney Tom Young, founder of Injury Board. “Most often, that help centers on providing legal counsel and accomplishing a client's legal goals. But good attorneys are also servant-leaders. They serve their community. In these challenging, disconnected days, our member attorneys and their firms across the country are doing just that with Day of Action — they're serving and they're leading. And more than that, we're helping some of our communities' most vulnerable family members stay connected.”

The official Day of Action is September 10, when the firm plans to deliver the units to the Deanwood Center. The attorneys and staff at Paulson & Nace look forward to sharing their experiences from this year’s Day of Action.
