Patrick Matthews is participating in the 26th annual Beaver Creek Art Festival, taking place in Vail Colorado, August 3 and 4, 2013. The much-anticipated event highlights the expertise of some of the country’s finest artists. Pat will be painting plein air, which has proven to be a fresh source of inspiration for the prolific American impressionist artist. Collectors, tourists and general festival attendees will have the opportunity to see Pat in action. He uses both hands while painting, and his one-of-a-kind style brings many passersby to his tent whenever he paints. At the festival, Pat will be working on pieces for his newest body of work, titled, ‘The Nocturne Series.”Inspired by the recent Super Moon and Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” Pat has begun his newest body of work, “The Nocturne Series.” The newest endeavor has already received considerable attention through Pat’s social media networks, and specifically, the nocturnal work, “Forest Dream” has garnered mass appeal in its short period of time on Facebook. Pat has 12 nocturnal-themed paintings under commission and every piece that he completed recently, has already sold.
Pat recalls looking at the Super Moon and thinking, ‘I have to paint that!’ Similarly, when a collector presents Pat with an idea for a commission, the artist feels the need to translate the idea or photograph onto a canvas. Many collectors place Pat’s paintings in special places within their homes, and Pat has a vision to fill his collectors’ homes with the subtle, yet striking illumination of his new nocturnal works.
