For construction of the Paradise Shores RV Resort to continue, the project proposal needs to pass a third and final reading through the Stettler County Council. The Stettler Municipal Council is expected to reject the construction proposal from RV Sites Canada for multiple reasons.The primary impact of the Paradise Shores RV Resort will be the irreparable damage to the two neighbouring small towns of White Sands and Rochon Sands. The Paradise Shores RV Resort is expected in bring an influx of 4,000 plus seasonal residents to the area, decisively overwhelming the surrounding environment, infrastructure, and community. As a key example of the level of public outcry over the construction of Paradise Shores, and the time of reporting, over 1,320 people had signed a Change.org public petition calling for the Stettler Municipal Council to deny approval for the proposed water park and RV resort.
For environmental impact, a majority of Alberta’s lakes have been destroyed by the induction of Blue Algae, and Buffalo Lake, Alberta’s 11th largest lake, has been environmentally persevered due to strict Provincial Legislation. The construction of the Paradise Shores RV Resort and the extreme influx of people and motorsport traffic will undoubtedly corrupt Buffalo Lake due to the introduction due to Blue Algae and similar biological contaminants. RV Sites Canada did commission an environmental assessment through Terra HDD Solutions, however, under review, the 72-page document contains 65 pages of references and only 7 pages of specific information detailing the impact that Paradise Shores will have on Buffalo Lake. In short, only a cursory environmental impact statement has been provided by RV Sites Canada as to the extreme environmental impact that Paradise Shores will have on Buffalo Lake and the surrounding area.
Finally, it is highly unlikely that RV Sites Canada will be willing to pay for the cost of private security during the construction of Paradise Shores. Given the rural, remote construction location, the Paradise Shores construction site will undoubtedly be heavily vandalized and sabotaged during each stage of the construction process.
David Hamm, the owner of RV Sites Canada, has already begun both the construction and sale of the Paradise Shores lots in the advance of formal approval by the Stettler Municipal Council. In aggregate, prospective buyers are warned not to invest in the Paradise Shores RV Park as the project will not be approved. Investors who have already financed the project by making a down payment on a Paradise Shores RV lot should not expect to have their deposit returned as RV Sites Canada will need to recuperate the cost of construction already invested in the project.
