Palisades Tennis Club Renews Lease with the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach and Announces New Ownership

Palisades Tennis Club (Palisades), the premier private tennis club in Southern California, announces Eric Davidson as its new owner and a renewed lease with the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. Eric is the Chairman of the Board of World Team Tennis and owner of the Orange County Breakers tennis team. Ken Stuart, who has owned the club since 1995, has decided to leave Palisades following 31 combined years of dedicated service.

“Everyone agreed that it’s time for the club to walk into the future,” says new owner Davidson. “I am invigorated by the lease renewal with the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach and our plans are to ensure that Palisades continues to be a world-class club for its local members and global visitors.”

Palisades Tennis Club sits on two separate parcels of land – one owned by Russ Fluter, Newport Beach resident and real estate investor. Fluter has chosen not to renew the lease with Palisades and shut down the club that has been in place for 45 years. He has sent a demand that Palisades vacate the property by February 29, 2020.

The other parcel is leased from the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, which has renewed their lease with Palisades Tennis Club.

While Davidson plans for the future, Palisades will operate out of a modular building.

“Palisades and its members have had a tremendous impact on the community by hosting events and raising funds into the millions of dollars for local charities over the club’s illustrious 45-year history,” says Davidson. “The more value we can bring to our members, the better. They give so much to our community, and they deserve so much in return.”

Under Davidson’s ownership, current management will remain in place, with Terri DeLong as General Manager.

“Our commitment is to our membership,” says Davidson. “We’ll do everything we can to make sure the historic integrity of the club is preserved.”
