Owner of ID Creator Sam Colvin Graduates from Emerging Leader's Class of 2015

Small business is the beating heart of the economy, and the single greatest contributor to sustained economic growth and job creation, according to Government statistics. Many individuals in deprived cities with a lack of access to elite education are responsible for starting small businesses, and the Small Business Administration wants to help them succeed. Sam Colvin is one such example, having created a business that in just one year has supplied more than 10,000 businesses with ID cards. Colvin has just graduated from the SBA’s Emerging Leaders class of 2015.

For seven months, Colvin was given the opportunity to develop his business and leadership skills with experienced mentors, while attending specialized workshops and developing connections with peers, local pillars of the community, and financial experts.

His business, ID Creator, has gone from strength to strength over that time, as Colvin has applied his learning, creating an ID Creator app and launching a UK branch of the site, as well as helping the community by providing free ID Cards to homeschooled children to help them access school resources.

When asked about ID Creator, Colvin explained, “I dropped out of Arizona State University at 19 years old to create and run IDCreator.com. Since then, IDCreator has worked with over 10,000 businesses and produced over 500,000 ID Cards. The help and support I received from the Small Business Administration through their Emerging Leaders course has contributed greatly to that success. The company is going from strength to strength in large part thanks to what I learned, the connections I made and the advice and guidance I received. I am sincerely grateful to have been a part of it and look forward to continuing the many great relationships I established through the program.”
