According to announcements released by Redbud Soil Company and Chris Brady, the company manufactures premium soils that can be used year after year, in no-till environments. Marijuana cultivators trust the organic potting soil produced by Redbud Soil at its Oklahoma City location. The soil is free of inferior products and bottled nutrients, and can, therefore, deliver quality yields over the years.

The company does not term its soil "premium" simply to add heft to its sales pitch. The current no-till soil blend sold by Redbud Soil Company is the result of eight years of designing and testing. Side by side tests and field trials were conducted to arrive at a mix that works best in a no-till environment, and more importantly offers produce that is safe for consumers to use in a field, home garden, greenhouse, or warehouse.

According to sources, the soil developed and sold by Redbud Soil Company does not contain harmful chemicals that unavoidably find their way into municipal compost. Other harmful inputs commonly used in organic soils that you will not see in Redbud Soil are, Non-organic composted poultry manure contains high levels of arsenic. Blood meal and bone meal introduce unwanted chemicals into the soil. Bat guano provides nutrition for the soil, but only for a limited period. Harvesting bat guano is detrimental to the habitat of bats. This is why Redbud Soil Organic potting soil is free form these inputs. No-till organic soil can be used and reused safely. The soil is easily nourished with worms, cover crop, and a mulch layer.

Chris Brady of Redbud Soil Company said, “From the compost, we use to all of the amendments in our blend, we work to ensure we are always creating the best start to your next no-till garden. The compost base is made from forest wood waste, and it is amended in the field with other additives to create a super-premium compost product that is rich in beneficial fungus. Once mixed in our soil, fungal hyphae begin to develop within 24 hours. It is very normal for 1-yard totes to be covered in white hyphae all over the top layer of the soil.

Our mix is comprised of roughly 5% biochar. Since our soil is designed for no-till, we use a super chunky biochar that will give aeration along with the standard properties that biochar brings to the table. The base of our soil is comprised of peat, rice hulls, and perlite. We use rice hulls that are grown and packaged in Arkansas.

The list of soil amendments used in our soils is oyster shell flour, gypsum, azomite, basalt rock dust, crab shells, fish meal, alfalfa meal, fishbone meal, kelp meal, & diatomaceous earth. They all bring their own benefits to the table, and they all work in different ways to help us achieve the goal of growing terpene-rich cannabis.”

On the terpene-enriching effects of the no-till organic soil, Brady said, “Back in the day we use to grow for flavor and smell. We had no idea that we were actually growing for terpenes because no one was using that terminology. Today the science behind terpenes in relation to cannabinoids is much more profound. So much so that we now know that a terpene-rich plant will have different effects on us as a plant that is only high in cannabinoids. The entire basis of Redbud Soil Company is to put the power of organic practices into the hands of anyone who wants to use them. Our no-till living soil is a foundation in the pursuit of growing high terpene organic plants, with little to no water runoff, and limited inputs.”
