Canadian Manufacturing’s website posted an article where Lauren Krugel from the Canadian Press talks about how Husky Energy, Inc. is in fact coming face to face with a rather giant toll in an oil sands project that is based in their Northern Alberta sector.

It has been stated that Husky Energy, Inc. says that the “price tag with the initial phase of the oil sands project is going up and the costs for the central plant are amassing numbers that are higher than initially expected.”

What is the importance of this project? Canada has joined the ranks as one of the biggest oil reserves in a country and there is roughly 97% – 168 out of 173 barrels of oil – of reserves found in the oil/tar sands. These are the deposits of bitumen that are unable to be pumped out even through the help of heavy duty equipment if it’s not heated or diluted first. Overall, this project is a great way to help capitalize on this little known crude oil resource.

Husky Energy, Inc. knows the value of being able to have high quality, heavy duty equipment on hand when it comes to cost effectiveness. However, they also realize that delivering top performance will help to keep this Sunrise project afloat.

Central Machine and Marine, a CNC machine shop in Sarnia, is able to offer up durable mining and milling components and equipment such as machines for heat exchangers, shearing tools and equipment, vertical milling machines, line boring machines, surface grinders and much more. The overall challenge for these companies in the resource industry comes from picking and choosing which equipment is going to give the best performance as well as the provider that is going to give the best deal possible.

Canada’s oil sands projects should be able to bring about great success when it comes to the extraction, refining and processing of this raw material as long as the best equipment is available. Husky Energy, Inc. is looking to be able to produce between 330,000 and 355,000 barrels each day this year if the project is able to push its way through.
