Online Crowd Funding Gaining Strong Hold on Fundraisers

Fundraisers of all kinds are using the largest marketing platform ever known, the World Wide Web, to bring in donations from more sources than ever before

From upstart companies asking for personal funding to humanitarian charities in need of donations to damaged or downtrodden communities with hopes of help with improvements to every cause in between, online crowd funding is providing resources beyond any ever known. With the creation of the World Wide Web, fund raising of all kinds have taken a highly productive turn through use of the largest advertising and marketing platform ever known to man.

“The success of a fundraiser used to depend upon knocking on a lot of doors,” commented Jenn Finnell, owner and founder of Team Wildflower, LLC, an online advertising and SEO marketing company experienced in online crowd funding. “But, today, there are companies out there who have established safe and secure funding sites where nearly anyone with a worthy cause or need can ask all of the digital world for help.”

Many of the website services for fund raising charge a minimal percentage of the total donations collected in addition to a small deduction from each donation for administrative processing. Some claim a 100% free service to the charity or fundraiser while charging those making the donations.

“We typically recommend using a service with a small charge deducted from the total campaign,” explained Finnell. “It just seems a bit arrogant to charge for giving such a helpful and often benevolent gift.”

Commonly used to aid in medical expenses and to help the final wishes of a terminally ill individuals come true, online crowd funding campaigns such as the recent “Send Jill to Arizona” through GoFundMe.com, have raised hundreds of millions of dollars to help those in need.

“Jillian wants to visit family in Arizona before she gives in to the brain cancer she's been fighting for nearly half of her life,” offered one family friend helping to spearhead the fundraiser. “Through crowd funding, we got half of the money needed in only 48 hours. We've got quite a way to go, but it has been an amazing experience seeing people we don't even know coming through with donations.”

Not only humanitarian causes are finding success through crowd funding. Many small and start-up companies use the services to help fund special projects, new facilities and numerous other needs requiring funds beyond budgetary restrictions.

“Rocket Republic Brewery in Madison, Alabama had a highly successful campaign through indiegogo.com,” Finnell stated. “They are offering a twist to normal crowd funding by extending a special 'passport' for the new tap room to those contributing to the 'Constellation Collaboration'.”

According to Forbes.com in August of 2014, the top ten crowd funding websites have raised over $8 billion dollars over the past five years, and with the increase of reputable websites, 2015 should see an acceleration in industry growth, estimating the largest funding in the short history of the industry.
