A representative at Science Digest had this to say about their launch, “This website was launched because too many teachers present science as a humdrum collection of facts simply to memorize, which is one reason kids get bored with it.”
They followed on by saying, “Facts are not the focus of science. It’s about the quest for facts – the scientific method, by which we approach the thickets of ignorance. During it, we argue, collaborate, compete, and experience flashes of crazy excitement and drudge work, and our desire to figure it out, at least for now, is driven by ego.”.
The formation of Science Digest was caused by a frustration that they weren’t able to find quality sources of science information when trying to teach their own children. Readers can already find content readily available on the website, with posts titled “Science Experiments for 10 Year Olds: 10 Cool Science Experiments for Kids” and even “Science and Technology for Kids: Cool Projects for Kids”.
