Praxis Media Group published their new blog post today: 40th Anniversary of Testis Cancer Treatment. This blog post reveals Testicular cancer is relatively rare, accounting for about one percent of cancers in men. Although rare overall, it is the number one cancer for men ages 15 to 35, and is a form of a broader type of cancer called germ cell. As recently as 50 years ago, very few patients survived this type of cancer. Innovations led by Dr. Lawrence Einhorn and his colleagues at Indiana University Health Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center since then have led to a 95 percent cure rate. This cure rate is the highest of any cancer. Testicular cancer is now one of the most survivable cancers, even with advanced cases. Testicular cancer is usually discovered as a hard lump on one of the testes. Although this is where it is usually found, the cancer can also metastasize (spread) throughout the lymph nodes in the lower abdomen or even to the lungs. A celebration took place in Indianapolis on September 27th, 2014 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art to honor Dr. Larry Einhorn who developed the treatment for testis cancer 40 years ago.  This powerful video was played at the celebration.
