Be Strong is a registered charity and social enterprise project located in a town called Bolton near Manchester, England. Its purpose is to support, encourage and facilitate behavior change in former criminal offenders who are addicted to drugs or alcohol.
The project has been operating since January 2011 but receives no state or government funding. Until recently, Be Strong has been relying entirely on the donations from the public and other benefactors. Cash has always been very tight and restricted funding has threatened the viability and potential outreach of the project.
However, this new initiative will help make Be Strong sustainable into the future.
Revenues generated are reinvested in free personal development programs, gymnasium memberships, employment training, healthy diet workshops and importantly one to one mentoring to help them get back into mainstream society.
