The Escape Rooms at Refreshing Mountain provide indoor entertainment for groups up to 10 participants and was completely themed, designed, and built by the staff at Refreshing Mountain. “A lot of our most popular activities are outdoors,” said Justin Harnish, Director of RMC. “Not everyone is interested in zip lining, horseback riding, etc. in the rain or colder weather. These new escape rooms now allow us to entertain guests indoors year-round,” he added.Officially opening November 1, Refreshing Mountain plans to have four distinct escape rooms on- property. The first is built around a very unique theme that will appeal to all audiences. “Funding the Dream” invites participants to enter the Patent Office at Refreshing Mountain to discover inventions and overcome the red tape involved to get a patent approved and funded. Participants can choose an invention, get it patented and funded, and experience joys (and frustrations) involved in rolling out an invention before the office closes.
Plans for the next 3 rooms are still ins the works. Room #2 will have a theme built around the history of Refreshing Mountain. The third room will be a more “high-tech” experience, and the fourth room will be a hybrid indoor/outdoor experience. “We expect to roll out more details on the next few rooms through early-to-mid 2020,” notes Harnish.
Harnish adds “our escape room is completely unique, as the entire story was dreamed up by our incredibly talented staff. And our first room, ‘Funding the Dream,’ includes a live actor in the room with every group,” he notes. “The storyline, theming, and entire experience is very family-friendly,” he adds. Additionally, the escape rooms will always be private bookings. Harnish states, “we did a lot of research in this aspect, and we found it to be compelling that the escape room experience is much more enjoyable with a group of friends, rather than a group of strangers, so we adopted this model as the only way we will operate our rooms. It aligns with our mission of being a ‘refreshing experience.” Minimum billing per experience is for 4 participants, but groups of up to 10 can be accommodated.
