New Driving Aid Keeps Drivers on The Right Side of The Road

Family, Motoring and Leisure's DriveRight safety aid hopes to ensure drivers stay on the right side of the road while travelling abroad and prevent unnecessary traffic accidents stemming from confused and unsure drivers on the wrong side.

Family, Motoring & Leisure released its latest driving safety aid the ‘DriveRight’ in June 2007. This simple, transparent aid allows drivers going back and forth to the European continent to ensure visually they are on, and stay on, the right side of the road.

This aid was the result of a collaboration of minds dedicated to making both domestic and foreign roads safer to use. It has been identified that an abundance of road traffic collisions abroad was the result of driving on the wrong side of the road and in some cases these accidents were fatal. This quickly became the core aim of the DriveRight; to reduce these unnecessary and tragic accidents.

From Family, Motoring and Leisure’s research, it was discovered that a major number of drivers found difficulty when reaching a roundabout including foreign drivers in the UK. This is why the DriveRight was designed to be reversible for use both in the UK and abroad and why a roundabout is a primary feature on the DriveRight. The DriveRight is simply placed onto the windscreen of any vehicle and displays to the driver a highlighted section of the road, this section is the right side of the road and shown in green. Should a driver become confused or unsure of which side they are on, or which side they should go to, they can look to this aid and establish the right and safe side, they need to be on.

Family, Motoring and Leisure believes that since providing this valuable aid to drivers, it has helped prevent potentially fatal accidents both at home and abroad as well as decrease the chances of traffic accidents stemming from drivers being on the wrong side of the road. By raising awareness that this safety aid is available, it is anticipated that drivers will take more care to ensure they stay on the right side of the road.
