It’s overly common that children may develop tonsillitis sometime in their life, it also causes problems for many adults, too! The most common symptoms will of course, be a sore throat. However this can also be accompanied by breathing problems and high fever. If your child appears to have any of these symptoms, it’s best to get seen to as soon as possible.

Problem with the NHS is, funding has been completely drained, this means there’s higher wait times for appointments to be seen by an ENT specialist. This is where Guildford ENT come in. Today, San Sunkaraneni, the owner at Guildford ENT – released details about their new Children’s ENT services which are available.

The Children’s ENT service is designed to appeal specifically to worried parents, if your child has developed tonsillitis there is a simple procedure they can do to remove the tonsils. Many parents believe that removing the tonsils will affect the development of this immunity but in actual fact, there is a lot of lymphoid tissue scattered throughout the entire mouth and throat, as well as many other parts of the body. There is absolutely zero evidence that the removal of the tonsils actually affects or impairs immunological development.

Worried about something else? Glue Ear? Snoring/Sleep Apnoea? No fret!

Guildford ENT also cater to the removal of the adenoids (small lumps of tissue known the cause glue ear). The reason this was made part of the service is due to how this issue can cause hearing loss. This may first come to fruition when noticing poor speech and language development within a child. Patients who invest in this service will be heavily pleased to know that it will dramatically improve their middle-ear problems.

If Snoring/Sleep Apnoea is your child’s issue, then the adenoids and/or tonsils may need to be removed. Children can suffer if they have this condition, it can cause the child to stop breathing during their sleep, even just momentarily, the child will then suddenly just start to breathe again. Later in life this could prove to be a problem later on in life and is recommended to be taken care of as soon as possible.
