More information can be found at grandroosterrestaurant.com.

The restaurant was open for a short time in 2018 and was receiving great reviews, but then closed. Many thought this was due to the remote location of the restaurant, being somewhat off the beaten path; and others attributed its departure to the lack of well-timed advertising resulting in the fact that the word of its existence did not get out fast enough.

The location is actually quite convenient as it is situated just south of Park Circle and north of downtown, making it a perfect lunch spot for people working in the area. The Grand Rooster’s chef, Trae Wilson has been a part of the Charleston scene and has been involved in culinary for over 30 years. He has become known for food packed with flavor. The tagline on the website, “Fresh, local, chef-driven, clean food made affordable” sums up his vision.

Charleston is a city known for incredible food. Many residents, as well as people who work near the restaurant, seem to find it refreshing to find a place that is not overpriced and still maintains the amazing quality one would expect to find at the most notable restaurants.

A recent reviewer wrote, “This place is a gem! I had the “Grand Rooster Burger”, which was topped with onions, diced Portobello mushrooms in a balsamic reduction, bacon, and quality white cheddar. My friends ordered the “Rooster Red” and “Rooster Green” half chicken entrées and they looked incredible. Generous portions at an incredibly affordable price. This should be a go-to lunch spot for everyone who works in North Charleston or even NoMo. The owners are very friendly and hospitable. I will be back!”

A common comment among reviewers is that the value is off the charts with their healthy generous portions. According to Chef Trae, the portion sizes are designed to allow people to bring some food home.

The menu is diverse and carefully thought-out with options ranging from fresh trout, to burgers, to farro bowls, to salads. There is something there for everyone to enjoy.
