Elementary through Middle School Students looking for creative fun and art instruction can register to attend Summer Art Camps scheduled for June & July.

Children’s Art Place is launching several new camps this summer.

Ooey Gooey Slime Art Camp – Kids LOVE making slime and parents do not like it all over the place. This camp is the best of both worlds. A new slime will be mixed each day along with container decoration. Other art forms will also be explored so lots of beautiful work will still come home – along with the SLIME.

Mixed Media & Technology Art Camp – We combine art created by hand with computer applications and even some green screen work where we can insert the artists into their creative worlds! Simple Photoshop actions will be applied to the artists’ photographs as well as other cool apps that transform their art. Originals and technologically tweaked works of art come home from this creative camp.

Treasure Hunters Art Camp – We will go back in time to discover cool art techniques and ideas each day along with a clue for our treasure hunt on the last day. Lots of media is explored in a fun and unique way.

Mythical, Magical Wizardry – Make your own wands in the style of Harry Potter and create amazing art in “Out of This World” themes. We invite dragon, mermaid, unicorn, elf lovers and the like to come share a magical week of fun-filled art! We will also ice dye T-shirts which is quite magical.

Nooga’s Got Talent – We pack a ton of fun and learning into this camp and try many different art techniques. 2-D and 3-D art are included along with Exploding Books, Painting, Drawing, Tie-Dye, Collage and So Much More.

Of course the old favorites are back – like Mom Would NEVER Let Me Do This At Home. In this camp balloons are filled with paint and thrown at a giant canvas, Jackson Pollock style. Many other messy techniques are encouraged that mom never wants at home too! This is always a summer favorite. Animals, Masks and More is for animal lovers and masks and puppets are created along with paintings and drawings. Fashion Design Divas is always great fun where the kids get to design and embellish their clothes in addition to learning how the design industry works. They also learn fashion illustration techniques and jewelry making. Teen camp was new last summer and is back too. Projects always change each summer in our repeating favorites because some kids take them every summer.

When asked why summer art camps are important, Jennifer Strickler said:

“Summer Art Camps are always a great time mixed with so much creativity and learning. The world sets kids up to be successful in fact memorization. Visual art prepares kids for real problem solving. Adults are afraid to fail because they weren’t taught how to fail and then figure out that often the best solutions come out of pushing through the failure to unexpected solutions. Kids learn valuable lessons all disguised as serious fun. Be careful though, because once your child comes, they want to return again and again.”
