The advancements in technology paved the way for artists such as Nelson P.O.J to reinvigorate the genre.The TunePilot Vol. 1 is a six-track EP that seamlessly blends groovy, up-beat rhythm, catchy melodies, recognizable vocals with unique phrasing, cherry-topped with emotional backing vocals.
The album features strong hits that are distinctly different from one another, while quality musicianship is the common denominator that brings them together.
Fans can expect to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster with TunePilot EP, as the tracks are diverse in terms of both structure and feel. TunePilot Vol. 1 starts with My Way, followed by Loving Your Way that is a natural extension of the opener; Konkoso and Freak take the album towards a steadier, more relaxing ambient while Jo and Belinda close the album in style.
Nelson P.O.J (@nelsonpojofficial) decided to surprise his fans with a bonus track called Fire, which puts a heavier accent on acoustic guitar and drums than its electronic counterparts.
Before releasing his debut album TunePilot, Nelson P.O.J had released five singles that fit the same musical landscape. Low Waist, Bust Ma Head, and Bomber are characterized with digital tones and timbres, while My Desire stands out with slightly more emotional piano work.
Shakara is deeper, heavier, and slower than most tracks Nelson had released. It’s a departure from Afrobeat, showing his rap and hip-hop influences. Nelson’s Bad Man is an unreleased track that is available exclusively on his website.
