Robina First Early Learning Centre, announced their National Reconciliation Week event will be held in Robina First Early Learning Centre on 27th May to 3rd June.

Children from toddlers to pre-prep can partake in activities creating beautiful displays and resources to help celebrate this beautiful moment in Australian history commemorating two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey. At the heart of National Reconciliation Week is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

To foster positive race relations, relationships must be grounded in a foundation of truth about Australia’s colonial history. Our nation’s past is reflected in the present, and will continue to play out in future unless we heal historical wounds. Our children will attend this National Reconciliation Week during the period 27th May to 3rd of June.

Robina First Early Learning Centre is organizing this year’s event, which will cover key issues such as:

Learning about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements – exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The successful 1967 referendum – how changes to the Australian Constitution improved the services available to Indigenous Australians such as social security and education.

High Court Mabo decision – how the challenge to the Australian legal system fought for recognition of the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners of their land.

When asked about the reasons behind creating this event, the host of the event, Cassie Young said:

National Reconciliation Week will help us understand that reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
