The popular music review website MusicCritic.com today revealed that it will be increasing its coverage of Music Video production and distribution.

Music Critic was founded in 1998 and publishes album reviews, music articles, concert and live band reviews, and instrument guides. The new channel on the website will be titled ‘Music Videos – The Art and The Industry’ and is a behind the scenes look at what is involved in music video production.

“The music video pitching process is intensely competitive and can seem unforgiving. Even after a video has been produced, the music video directors must complete sometimes up to 40 pages of spec materials to pitch music labels and record companies”, said Music Critic’s editor Matt Aird. “We decided that the best thing to do would be to compile information and advice on the topic and put it all down in one place for the budding producers and directors of the future.”

The Music Critic section will cover material previously provided by sites like Directors Label, and music video powerhouses like London’s legendary Epik Music Videos.

According to Medium.com, from the point of view of the major record labels, music on the Internet is consumed and forgotten about daily, and an artist needs something bigger than an audio track to get noticed. They need strong creative visuals to give them a substantial competitive advantage over their peers.

“Look at breakthrough acts like Billie Eilish and the strong visual elements that accompany ‘Bad Guy’ and the unforgettable arachnids in ‘You Should See Me in a Crown’, or the eye-catching video in Lil Nas X and Cyrus’ ‘Old Town Road’,” continued Matt Aird. “These are perfect examples of musicians who have made their visual impact just as powerful as their music. Music videos form a large part of an artist’s general creative vision and output.”

Founded as an online music review site, with reviews written for the people, by the people, Music Critic includes thousands of Album reviews across a wide range of genres, all the way from the popular Rock, Rap, Indie and Pop categories to Blues, World Music, Electronic and Reggae. Other popular sections include reviews of individual Concerts and live performances and soundtracks and movie themes.
