The Music Critic site has revealed a compilation of the best reviewed Jazz Albums of the 21st Century.

The popular Music Critic website has revealed a compilation of the best reviewed Jazz Albums of the 21st Century.

Music Critic was founded in 1998, and publishes album reviews, music articles, concert and live band reviews and instrument guides. The new compilation includes reviews gathered from some of the best-known critics and review sites to create a definitive look at the best Jazz of the last two decades.

“Ever since Jazz originated in the United States in the late 19th century, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression and a uniquely vibrant type of music,” said Music Critic’s editor Matt Aird. “This new compilation highlights some of the work in this genre. We believe the choice of artists may range far from the music’s original geographical roots, but remain true to its spirit.”

The majority of the albums are relatively recent releases, with Golden Xplosion by Marius Neset and Rio by Keith Jarrett topping the list. There are also some older works that were released during this period, such as the 2016 edition of Miles Davis’ Freedom Jazz Dance and his Live in Europe bootleg album.

The best reviewed Jazz Albums compilation includes 20 Albums that received scores averaging over 85% from critics in the US, UK and worldwide, and that could be considered essential additions to any serious Jazz fans collection.

“It’s an exciting time for Jazz,” continued Matt Aird for Music Critic. “There will be some artists in our new compilation that most fans will be familiar with, but we’re also highlighting some that may be less well known to the wider audiences such as Jason Moran’s All Rise and the rip-roaring Culcha Vulcha by the Snarky Puppy jazz and funk collective.”

Founded as an online music review site, with reviews written for the people, by the people, Music Critic includes thousands of Album reviews across a wide range of genres, all the way from the popular Rock, Rap, Indie and Pop categories to Blues, World Music, Electronic and Reggae. Other popular sections include reviews of individual Concerts and live performances and soundtracks and movie themes.
