The popular music review website MusicCritic today announced that they have pronounced Good At Falling by Japanese House the Album of the Month for March 2019.
Good At Falling is an outstanding album, with which Amber Bain has managed to build on the momentum of four EPs to create a well-rounded pop record, said Music Critic s Editor Matt Aird. The album began as a collection of demo tracks recorded in a bedroom, but from such humble beginnings they follow the artists rapid journey of artistic development and increasing maturity.
Released by label Dirty Hit on the 1st of March 2019, Good At Falling is an album telling an intensely personal and vulnerable group of stories, but they are assembled in a perfectly executed pop format that never allows the tone to be over melancholic. In judging the album, the staff at MusicCritic were impressed by the way the content and meaning of the lyrics juxtaposed with the rising pop rhythms and confident delivery.
Amber Bain as clearly created something of value with this album, continued Music Critic. The harmonies are perfectly performed, the sampling almost playful, and the overall sound frequently an invitation to dance. However, underneath all that is some finely crafted structuring of lyrics and a coherent narrative that develops throughout the album. We were happy to declare this the album of the month, and expect great things from Amber Bain and Japanese House in future.
