According to the podcast, it’s important to be flexible when traveling with a baby. It can take three to five days to get a young child back on their normal sleep schedule, depending on where the family is going.

Jen Varela, a Gentle Sleep Coach from Sugar Night Night in San Diego, says if a baby’s sleep hours become completely confused, it’s best to make sure their last nap of the day happens on time. This helps parents get anchored on the new timezone.

If all else fails, Varela says visiting a beach can really put the whole family at ease. “People who take beach vacations feel so much more rested. There’s something to be said about how we’re tied to the earth. Babies probably aren’t going to put their feet in the sand. But if you can encourage your baby to touch the earth, that can really help tie them to that place which can help with their circadian rhythm.”

This podcast for women also provides new moms with practical ideas on how to create a sleep space for babies that’s simple and safe. Parents can also ease their travel concerns by purchasing a compact and lightweight bassinet, like the My Crib® Portable Bassinet from Regalo Baby, which can be found here https://regalo-baby.com/products/my-crib-portable-bassinet. A bassinet can be easily moved from room to room and it also allows babies to sleep close to their parents at night.
