Temples pride, the creator of the Dredge microfiber flat mop kit has revealed the secret to streak-free mopping results in the home. They claim that the answer to avoiding streaks is to use a mopping tool that applies even pressure throughout the mop while mopping, like a microfiber flat mop. An example of a mopping technique that does the opposite of that would be the typical loop mop or cotton mop style of mopping.
They explained that streaks are caused when the strands on loop mops deposit the cleaning solution in an uneven manner. Whereas with microfiber flat mops, there are no loops. In addition to the absence of strands of loops, the microfiber flat mop pad is always evenly in contact with the ground from one end to the other. This ensures an equal and controlled amount of cleaning solution being applied to the floor thereby eliminating the possibility of any streaks leftover as a result of loose mop strands.
“When trying to avoid streaks on the floor, so many people blame the cleaning solution as the culprit,” says Brian from Temples Pride. “Although a lot of the time the cleaning solution is a problem, it’s the addition of a streak creating loop mop that really amplifies the issue. First of all, as Melissa Maker says. Less is more when mopping the floor. In other words, don’t overdo the cleaning solutions. Even plain water is perfect if you have a microfiber mop. Secondly, a cotton mop can be likened to trying to mop the floor with the tips of your fingers, you’ll end up with streaks galore. However, with a flat microfiber mop, you will be going over your floor with such equal precision all around that it almost completely eliminates the possibility of streaks.”
