PHILADELPHIA, May 16, 2017 – The Goldman Scarlato & Penny, P.C. law firm is investigating potential claims on behalf of investors in securities offerings orchestrated by Michael A. Liberty and his associates through Mozido Invesco and other investment vehicles, including BRTMDO, LLC and Brentwood Financial, LLC, in the wake of the Securities and Exchange Commission allegations of investment fraud against those entities.

Michael Liberty and several of his associates have been charged by the SEC with fraudulently raising more than $55 million from investors across the country, through material misrepresentations and omissions. The SEC has alleged that Liberty and his associates induced investors to purchase unregistered interests in shell companies he controlled, including BRTMDO and Brentwood Financial, which companies supposedly owned transferable interests in Mozido, a fintech startup.

According to the SEC, unbeknownst to Liberty’s investors, those shell companies either did not own Mozido interests or were not allowed to transfer them. Liberty and his accomplices lied to investors about Mozido’s valuation and finances, and stole most of the investor money to finance their lavish lifestyle, according to the SEC’s charges.

The Goldman Scarlato & Penny lawyers' investigation concerns whether Michael Liberty investors may be able to seek compensation for investments procured from them through alleged material misrepresentations and omissions.
