Mark White Fine Art presents their gift guide for the 2013 holiday season.

Famed Mark White Fine Art on historic Canyon Road has just unveiled their first annual holiday gift guide, “Top 10 Picks for the Gift Giving Season.” The guide is available in complimentary e-book form from November 28th through December 5th and interested parties can request their copy here. The guide is a collection of 10 gift-worthy pieces from Mark White, Javier Lopez Barbosa and Charles Veilleux to list a view. These works are all under $1200 and are available exclusively at Mark White Fine Art.

Some highlights of the guide include a sculpture from White’s “We” series, called “WE – Red and White”; an oil called, “#327” by Barbosa; and a sculptural painting titled, “Magnolia Sand” by Charles Veilleux.

“WE – Red and White” is from Mark’s “We” Series, a collection of whimsical, contemporary sculptures that pay homage to the human form in a tongue-in-cheek way. The series began with a single couple standing together, which Mark dubbed “We.” Mark discovered that even the slightest manipulation in the figures’ metal limbs could change how they interacted with the world – and each other. Soon he was pairing them up in sculptural snapshots that explore little truths of human relationships. This particular piece shows man and woman standing next to each other, visibly different in height and form, but close to one another – a perfect depiction of oneness and love.

“#327” is rich in color with a bold strip of yellow flowing in a vertical, curved line across the composition. The yellow is juxtaposed by hues of violet and electric pink to the right, and a blur of royal blue that fades into a crystal clear turquoise on the left. As with all of Javier’s works, “#327” is lively, energetic and bright. With its whimsy and wonder, this piece is sure to elicit fond memories of a dream place – the violet is reminiscent of rows of lavender and the yellow pop, the warm sun shining on a turquoise ocean.

“Magnolia Sand” celebrates the natural world and immortalizes it with striking color and texture. The flowering plant bursts upward from a nest-like birthplace on the ground and stands boldly against a textured background of yellow-green and toasted red-orange. Inlays of bright purple add another layer of depth to this stunning piece, and the rusty tone of the composition is a beautiful portrayal of the rich, desert hues of the Southwest in the vast terrain that surrounds Santa Fe.
