Mark White Fine Art will release commemorative book May 2014.

Mark White Fine Art on historic Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico is poised to release a highly anticipated book in May 2014. The book, titled: UPON REFLECTION, is a commemorative emblem of Mark White’s recent entrance into the permanent collection of the Kreeger Museum in Washington D.C., and also serves as an explanatory account of White’s reflective, oil on panel pieces. With essays by writer Iris McLister and insight from the artist critic, UPON REFLECTION offers an artfully crafted, inside look at White’s emerging body of work. Interested parties can pre-order their signed copy for $25 by emailing, and starting in early May, copies will be sold in the gallery.

Iris McLister writes, “Readers of the book can expect to learn about Mark's creative practice as a painter; what inspires and drives him as an artist. The paintings are certainly not allegorical, but they do have loosely figurative elements. The book also serves as an encapsulation of the rather prolific body of paintings Mark has been focused on for the past couple years, and gives an idea of the direction in which he will continue to go.” Readers of the book will get a taste of White’s one-of-a-kind approach, in which “…limitless, brilliant light is essential… An almost preternatural incandescence seems to emanate from deep within the surface of White’s paintings. Perhaps this concept is key to understanding our response to White’s paintings, which strike an immediately intimate chord, despite their initial, firmly non-objective premise. Light dominates, whether in direct, distinct shafts or dappled splotches that mimic the sun’s strain through a leafy canopy."
