22 June, 2015

Marble has been one of the most luxurious surfaces in homes and public buildings since the time of the ancient Greeks, and is still used today thanks to its heritage and unique properties. Marble is not diamond however, and must be cleaned, maintained and even repaired to look its best after constant wear. Heathrow Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, and Terminal 5 is decked in huge swathes of marble, terrazzo and travertine. Marble Master UK has just secured the contract to clean and repair this epic site.

Having already provided stonemasonry services and terrazzo repairs in London for Dec from Ant and Dec, Annie Lennox, Colin Firth and Tony Blair, the company is now looking to provide the same incredible quality but on a whole new scale of quantity, with over three hundred and fifty thousand square meters of quality stonework to cover.

The marble cleaning in London provided by the company is both professional and proficient, and over their 28 year history they have covered over one and a half million square meters of cleaning and restoration work, though this remains the single largest contract they have won to date.

A spokesperson for Marble Master UK explained, “We are thrilled to be able to bring Heathrow Airport’s iconic Terminal 5 back to its fullest glory with a comprehensive overhaul of their stonework, repairing, reconditioning and restoring the marble, travertine and terrazzo in such a way as to ensure the terminal makes its full and dramatic impact on travelers entering the space. Last year the terminal saw 31.6 million people on over two hundred thousand flights pass through, which a lot of wear and tear from footfall, but also a huge opportunity to make a profound first impression on millions of visitors.”
