Local Business Join Forces to “Jump For Jake's” and Support Families Internationally

Businesses around Appleton, Wisconsin, including TeamWildflower LLC, Fun Pros Events, Wittman Fun Land Park, David Bayer Photography and Willow Hill Photography are working together to raise funds for Jake’s Diapers, a local non-profit agency helping families worldwide with one of the most basic needs.

People passing by the closed Wittman Fun Land Park on Sunday, August 23rd may be surprised by what they see. That is the day several major local businesses are coming together to help support Jake’s Diapers, a promising young charity that has already supplied more than 20,000 washable cloth diapers to poor families around the world. There will be face painting and other carnival activities, along with food and drink, but the centerpieces of fun will be the inflatable attractions donated by Fun Pros Events, and all of the excitement will be captured in still photos by Willow Hill Photography and aerial footage from David Bayer Photography.

“An opportunity to engage the community and help support an international charity is something I think we’re all proud to be part of,” said Fun Pros owner and C.F.O. – that’s Chief “Fun” Officer – Wayne Nolden. “We’re honored that the women who run the charity asked to include us.”

Those two women, Stephanie Bowers and Anne Hinkfuss, founded Jake’s Diapers after a mission trip with their church to Peru in 2013. On a visit to an orphanage there, they were struck by the simple lack of available diapers, something that every family takes for granted back home. Determined to make a difference, they formed their charity and quickly went to work.

“It was appalling to see them struggling to make do with what they had,” said Hinkfuss. She and Bowers quickly found affordable, easy to use and wash cloth diapers and began arranging deliveries. Dependent completely on donations, they have since helped over 2,000 families, both here and abroad.

Many of the donations they receive to help move their charity forward do not come in monetary form either. They have placed 20 diaper drop boxes in 15 different countries so people can directly supply the cloth diapers.

“It’s something that is just such an elemental part of everyday life for a mother and child,” said Bowers, herself a mother of two. She understood that not only does having clean fresh diapers provide a healthy safe environment, it is one less necessity a mother surviving on only a few dollars a week has to worry about affording. “I’m just a mom trying to make a difference for babies everywhere.”

Part of that difference is helping to spread the message of what she and Hinkfuss are doing. That means not only will Sunday’s event, scheduled to happen between 11am and 2pm, be a fundraiser and a chance to introduce themselves to the community, it will also provide the basis for future marketing and advertising needs to increase awareness and assist with fundraising. To make that happen, local companies David Bayer Photography and Willow Hill Photography are combining forces to shoot photos and video, and leading online marketing company Team Wildflower, LLC will be making sure everybody knows about the event and who is helping make it happen.

“We are drawing local attention to this event, and in turn, will be using this event to help attract attention nationally,” said Jennifer Finnell, owner and president of Team Wildflower, LLC. “We’ll make sure that families have a chance to sign release forms in case their likenesses become part of the message of helping Jake’s Diapers help families around the world.”

Jump for Jake's” is scheduled to begin on August 23, 2015 at 11 AM, CST, ending at 2 PM CST at Wittman Fun Land Park, located just East of Highway 441 on the West side of Appleton Road. Entry cost is only $10 for access to all inflatables. Other activities and refreshments will be available for purchase. Those attending are asked to dress colorfully for photo purposes. Proceeds of the event will go to Jake's Diapers.*

*Operational costs for Fun Pros Events will be removed from the donated funds.
