New book offers a fresh perspective on film philosophy, the power of myths, and the ways that movie heroes invoke the Law of Attraction to achieve their goals.

Local author and screenwriter, Primrose Roberts, is the latest indie writer to join the self-publishing digital revolution.  The author’s newly-published book, “SPUN: 101 Movies to Recreate Your Reality,” brilliantly juxtaposes the “Real World,” the one in which humans live with the “Reel World,” the one they get transported to once they sit down to watch a film and reveals some interesting findings.  This new book offers a fresh perspective on film philosophy, the power of myths, and the ways that movie heroes invoke the Law of Attraction to achieve their goals.

Whether it is the world’s earliest ancestors sitting around a flickering campfire or a modern audience gazing at a flickering screen, telling stories is an integral part of what it means to be human.  It is why Roberts has spent many years exploring the art of storytelling and the craft of screenwriting.  After writing several screenplays, she discovered that movie heroes were not only following the Hero’s Journey, but invoking the Law of Attraction to achieve their goals.  She explores these topics further in her blog http://mavenrose.com.   Because stories are metaphors for the human condition, Roberts says it is why the audience easily identifies with the hero and “when he suffers, we suffer, when he loves, we love, when he wins, we win.”

The book “SPUN: 101 Movies to Recreate Your Reality,” was written to share the author’s unique insights about how “reel life” can inform and transform “real life.”  She ingeniously pieces together the jigsaw puzzle of “101 Movies” into a meaningful pattern that challenges readers to become the hero in their own lives.  It is through the hero’s quest that the audience is taught the right way to live.  They learn not only how the world is, but how it ought to be.  This approach presents a fascinating new method for analyzing and appreciating movies.  It is also a powerful and useful guide for those people interested in rewriting the script of their lives.
