LifeStraw Could Be a Life-Saver in Drought-Stricken Areas

The drought in the West and Southwest isn’t just continuing; it has become the new normal. Water4Patriots recommends that people learn how to purify water of contaminants or stock up on personal water filters.

In much of the West and Southwest U.S., the word “drought” has been used extensively to describe the alarming lack of clean drinking water available. But is it really accurate to call it a “drought” if the situation is not expected to improve in the foreseeable future?

According to a recent article in the Deseret News, drought is the new normal. A water strategist in Utah is warning the state’s residents the drought is here to stay and they need to start taking water conservation more seriously.

As the lack of clean drinking water continues to worsen in the West and Southwest, people may soon need ways to make contaminated water clean enough to drink and use for other purposes. Water4Patriots officials including Allen Baler have provided a way for individuals to do exactly that through the LifeStraw personal water filter.

It’s the world’s most advanced water filter, removing 99.999 percent of waterborne bacteria and parasites, and providing the user with crystal-clear, life-giving water when no clean drinking water is available.

Lightweight LifeStraw Needs No Batteries

This compact device, which can be carried anywhere, weighs only two ounces. It contains no chemicals and no moving parts, and requires no electricity or batteries. Pores within tubes inside the straw allow water to pass but prevent contaminants larger than 0.2 microns from flowing through. The LifeStraw filters up to 1,000 liters of contaminated water without iodine, chlorine or other chemicals.

First introduced in 2005, the LifeStraw was field tested by approximately 4.5 million people and used around the world under extreme conditions for humanitarian relief. Now available in the U.S., it has met EPA standards for water filtration and was a Time magazine invention of the year winner.

“In addition to providing clean drinking water no matter where one is, the LifeStraw gives peace of mind,” said Baler, Partner at 4Patriots LLC, which provides products that help people become more self-reliant and independent. “When a crisis occurs, people will have clean drinking water, even if all the surrounding water is contaminated. With the LifeStraw, people can be prepared no matter what happens.”
