In Change Makers, Volume 5, author Stacey Dimitriou shares her own story of digging deep during a dark time to reclaim her confidence.
— Change is uncomfortable. It can even be terrifying.
But change is the open door that allows women to step out of their comfort zones and explore new opportunities.
Stacey Dimitriou knows this first-hand. The “wild, self-assured, defiant, adventurous, and outspoken,” risk-taker always embraced change with open arms. She started her first business at age 18 and over the next two and a half decades leveraged her fearlessness to build and sell a 7-figure events business while growing a family.
Then, at the age of 41, Dimitriou slipped into a depression that lasted the better part of a year and threatened everything she believed about herself.
It took her some time grappling with unstoppable thoughts of grief and despair, but she finally got her life back on track when she embraced her vulnerability and the opportunity to reclaim her confidence. Doing so opened the door to new opportunities as she blasted open the borders of her comfort zone.
“I knew there would be many moments of necessary discomfort,” she said. “Nothing grows in our comfort zone; the only way to get different results is to take different actions."
Once she was able to reclaim her confidence, she began to teach other women struggling to overcome their challenges and help them get back into the driver’s seat.
“I saw a trend in the online space that was focusing on incredible, picture-perfect women’s triumphs. But not the messy parts, the hard parts, the parts that twist your stomach into a million knots,” said Dimitriou. “To be raw and honest takes strength, ferocity, and a dash of courage - just like creating a cocktail with the perfect ingredients.”
As a “Women’s Confidence Coach,” Dimitriou now delivers her “Six Steps to Confidence” program through 1:1 bespoke coaching, group workshops, Women’s Circles, and her free Facebook community, “Alpha Women Rising.”
Her focus is on guiding women undergoing challenging life events to trust their intuitive strengths and lead their lives with a spirit of honesty and a willingness to embrace change.
“Every challenge is an opportunity waiting to be unpacked,” she said. “With the right support, we can all rock a few boats and raise a lot of eyebrows, because life is mundane without the transformative change that makes the waves we can all ride together.”
Dimitriou shared her story in the new book “Change Makers: 21 Transformational Stories From Women Making An Impact In The Lives Of Others (Volume 5).” The book includes chapters written by women, including tech leaders, health experts, artists, healers, entrepreneurs, and coaches from across the world, who each share their transformative journeys to serve others, create meaningful businesses, and enrich lives.
Released in December 2020, the international bestseller has topped Amazon charts in Australia, the USA and across Europe.
Dimitriou was selected to share her story by Emma Hamlin, the book’s publisher and founder of Change Maker Press. Hamlin is herself a bestselling author, publisher, and strategic marketing expert who founded her company to provide a space for innovative and inspiring women to be seen and heard.
