When re-entering a property that has been hit with water damage, try to save any valuable documents and photos, but all soft goods that got wet such as carpeting and bedding should be thrown out. Wherever the water line is, it’s important to remove the drywall at least a foot higher and use heavy duty dryers and fans to dry everything out to minimize mold development.
