In Las Vegas, temperatures can reach over 110 degrees in the summer. If air conditioning units fail and people cannot afford to repair or replace them, they are left in a nightmare situation with no recourse. That’s why Las Vegas Air Conditioning Inc. created the Good Deeds Program. For the last year and a half, Las Vegas Air Conditioning Inc. has been providing free air conditioners and heaters to those in need. The pilot scheme has been so successful that the company is renewing the program for the next eighteen months, to ensure people in need get the heating and cooling they couldn’t otherwise afford.Through the program, people can apply for a free repair or replacement service depending on their situation. The application asks people to tell their story and explain why they need the help.
Stephen Gamst with Las Vegas air Conditioning says “We read over the applications looking for the ones most in need, and the ones that touch our hearts, basically the ones we can’t turn away.”
The program is funded by taking a portion of the proceeds from all the paid jobs Las Vegas Air Conditioning undertake. It has resulted in some inspirational stories, including that of Jennifer Jax, covered by News 3 in a Good Deeds Program video.
There are two ways to apply for this free service. Individuals with internet access can go to the company website or the Facebook page and fill out the form. Seniors and those who don’t have the internet can go to the office and fill out a paper application. They’re office is located at 6220 Kimberly Ave Unit 13, Las Vegas, NV 89122.
Michael Gamst said, “The company first started providing free air conditioning repair in the 80s, for special cases and those in need. The Good Deeds program was a way for us codify this work into our everyday practice, to make sure we are helping Las Vegas as a part of the community, not just as a service provider.”
