LA underwater photographer, Gisele Lubsen, of GAL Photography, has launched a new underwater production to promote the Annual Celebrity Gala of Face Forward at the Vibiana. Created to help spread awareness against domestic violence and trafficking, it showcases the beauty of Face Forward survivors, helping to spread their story and raise awareness of women who have been burnt by acid.

Gisele Lubsen is a Dutch born photographer whose work has been exhibited and published in the Netherlands, France, Greece, Switzerland and the United States. Specializing in underwater fashion and underwater art, she is a conceptual photographer who holds a masters degree in Fine Arts and Photography from Otis School of Art and Design. She also has a degree in Photography and in Art History.
On her official website, Gisele says that underwater photography embodies fearlessness and creativity, providing a place where the subject and the photographer can translate an expressive mission into its highest, most attractive and effective form.
Celebrities who participated in the Face Forward underwater art photo shoot include Nia Peebles from Pretty Little Liars, Ashlan Gorge Cousteau from ET News, Sean Mosley and Sean Mosley Junior, Chloe Farnsworth, along with survivors Saundra, Missy and Daisy.
Throughout the photoshoot, the women engage in a transformational experience creating beautiful flowing art pieces that will be auctioned off to help race money for Face Forward. Gisele explains that each underwater shoot reflects a customised concept and theme, which combine to make unique and striking images.
She went on to say: “I believe in the power of underwater photography and water as a way to heal, express true emotion, connect and push through innumerable layers. Being underwater creates a sense of heroism, which is very powerful on a visual level contained inside the photographs and for the person posing.”
