The performance troupe, 2Defy Gravity announced a Kickstarter Campaign to gain the equipment required to perform and teach Aerial and Circus Art in parks in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

The performance troupe, 2Defy Gravity, http://www.2defygravity.com/, announced a kickstarter Campaign to perform Aerial and Circus Art in parks in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The aerial and Circus Arts have become very popular in the media recently with performances on the high-flying trapeze, aerial silks, and ropes performances by big named celebrities such as Pink at the Grammys, Cirque du Soliel, or as seen on America’s Got Talent and other popular television shows. “Aerial Arts has become very popular over the past few years,” troupe partner Cade Holmseth said, “and people are discovering they can do it too. It’s a fabulous way to exercise and work out.”

The Kickstarter campaign, Circus in the Park, was launched by founders Cade Holmseth and Marissa Dorschner to help people discover the joys and health benefits of aerial arts.

One thing that consistently limits the aerial arts being brought to certain groups and being available for some communities is the need for high ceilings with safe rig points for equipment to hang from. “Unsafe beams and tree branches are never a good idea. We would like to purchase a free standing aerial rig so that we can bring the aerial arts to new audiences” Cade explained. The project will culminate in a free performance at a public park in June 2015.

The founders teach people who have never tried something like this before, and in a short time they are doing things they never expected. Cade said the most common question he gets is, “Don’t you have to be in great shape to perform on a trapeze or ropes?” The answer is a resounding “No! Just about everyone can learn to fly and be proud of what they accomplish, and the health benefits of building your body strength is tremendous” Cade continued.

Contributors to the Kickstarter campaign will receive bonus gifts, from free tickets to free classes or performances, depending on their level of commitment. If you’d like to help Cade and Marissa take this exciting performance art to the park please click here
