Keiser University’s legendary College Basketball Coach, Rollie Massimino, will have his life’s story told on FOX Sports. The documentary, called “The Maestro: The Rollie Massimino Story”, will air February 28th at 11:00pm EST.

Keiser University lost their beloved men’s basketball coach, Rollie Massimino, last year to a prolonged illness. His incredible life story will be told via a new documentary on FOX Sports this Wednesday, February 28th at 11pm EST on FS1 following the Seton Hall at Villanova college basketball game.

THE MAESTRO: THE ROLLIE MASSIMINO STORY, the new original FOX Sports documentary, pays tribute to one of college basketball’s all-time great coaches. The documentary was produced by FOX Sports and Point Road Productions, led by Billy Raftery (son of FOX Sports college basketball analyst Bill Raftery), NBA veteran Grant Hill, college basketball personality Jay Bilas and Olivia Zimmerman.

Coach Massimino is well known for his leadership role in Villanova University’s remarkable 1985 NCAA Championship win over the strongly favored Georgetown Hoyas. At Keiser University, he was known not only for that incredible accomplishment, but also his influence in aiding fellow college coaches to be even better leaders. The late Massimino created a family atmosphere and through his mentoring, he inspired countless college athletes to be their best in the classroom, on the court, and in the community.

During his 45-year coaching career, Coach Massimino famously achieved 816 wins. The last 12 years of his career was spent guiding the Keiser University men’s basketball program. He built the Northwood University program from scratch in 2006, which would later become Keiser University. Seahawks basketball was transformed into a national powerhouse in the NAIA, enjoying eight consecutive trips to the national tournament in the program’s short history. For his achievements in college basketball, Rollie Massimino was elected as a member of the 2013 class of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in Kansas City, Missouri.

THE MAESTRO also captures both the highs and lows of Massimino’s final year as a coach before he passed away on August 30, 2017. During the 2016-17 season and his team’s battle to qualify for the NAIA Tournament, Massimino earned his 800th career win, but also dealt with the disappointment of not being selected for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. However, the relationships and personal successes of his players drove Massimino to continue his long and storied coaching career.

He motivated his players with the belief that “Enthusiasm is Contagious” and that message reflected Coach Massimino’s view of life. By giving 100 percent himself, on and off the court, he instilled enthusiasm into everyone around him with ceaseless energy that radiated onto his basketball players.
