Keiser University Miami introduces two new degrees in business administration and medical assisting that will be taught entirely in Spanish.

Keiser University’s Miami campus has created curricula to enhance the ability of Spanish speaking students to contend in an increasingly competitive job market. A pair of new degrees being offered at the university will be taught entirely in Spanish; an associate degree in medical assisting and a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

“We’re excited to introduce these new degrees that will further the employment opportunities and ultimately the quality of life of our multicultural community,” said Lorraine Beach, campus president at Keiser University Miami.

The new degree programs were introduced to meet the needs of an increasingly multilingual community. Miami-Dade County is home to a projected 2.7 million people with estimates of as many as 1.7 million residents speaking Spanish in their homes. The county’s foreign-born population has grown by 25 percent in the last 10 years with many of those residents coming from Latin American countries.

“Miami-Dade County is home to a highly diverse, hardworking community of individuals seeking opportunities to further their education and language acquisition,” said Beach. “Often times students learn best in their native language and the skill sets offered by the new degree programs will help career-focused individuals to even better contribute to South Florida’s growing economy.”

The curricula replicate their long-standing English counterparts. Courses are taught using the same goals and perspectives as the courses offered to all students. Like all degrees at Keiser University, students will benefit from small class sizes and flexible scheduling including online courses when available.

The Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration is an in-depth study of the functional areas of business. Course objectives focus on the global business environment and include comprehension of concepts and applied business practices including regulatory and ethical issues. The program of study is intended to prepare Spanish-speaking students with comprehensive knowledge of global business principles.

“The new Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Keiser University’s Miami Campus will be the only ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) accredited business program offered in Spanish in South Florida,” said Beach. “This gives students the confidence of attending a reputable academic program at a regionally accredited institution with courses offered in their native language allowing for full immersion in the content.”

The Associate of Science in Medical Assisting prepares students to perform medical assisting duties under the direct supervision of a physician. The program combines a mix of theory and practical application to simulate real-world experiences and develop the skills needed for this versatile position.

“The A.S. in Medical Assisting curriculum at Keiser University Miami provides opportunities for Spanish speakers to gain the knowledge and skills for careers in the growing healthcare field, Beach said. “In Florida alone the need for medical assistants is expected to increase 37% through 2026, and Keiser University graduates will be prepared to meet this demand.”

Both academic majors are currently enrolling students at Keiser University’s Miami campus located at 2101 NW 117th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33172. For more information, visit: https://www.KeiserUniversity.edu/Miami/
