Keiser University sought city approval to build an on-campus football stadium and athletic facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. The City of West Palm Beach Planning Board voted unanimously to approve construction of the Keiser University Seahawk football Stadium on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.The approximate $8 million stadium plans to have 3,500 seats, an artificial turf playing surface, a press box, and concessions, as well as a 12,000 square-foot athletic training facility and a parking lot.
“Our goal from the beginning at our Flagship campus has been to grow and serve our students and the community,” said Dr. Arthur Keiser, Chancellor and CEO. “Our Flagship campus is a residential campus with traditional students. We listened to the students and it was evident that they are both academically and athletic-oriented. They wanted football. We’re excited for the opportunities that building a start-up program presents for all students,” he said.
A member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Keiser University Seahawk football team will play in the mid-south conference against teams from other states. The nearest NAIA football team is at Ave Maria University in Southwest Florida.
With the mission of preparing students for life by teaching skills, which lead to success, the winning Keiser University Seahawk athletic program includes 24 NAIA teams.
An additional hearing with the City Commission will be scheduled at a time and date to be announced.
