LAHAUS Design Studio in Cottesloe, Perth is hosting local artist Kate Jarman’s first solo art exhibition, on view until December 16th. The exhibition features both original paintings and prints from Kate’s stunning “Jungalow” collection.
Kate’s inspiration for the “Jungalow” show was to create homage to the urban jungle. The word is a synonym for treehouse and is derived from the words ‘jungle’ and ‘bungalow’. Kate says “I am intrigued by the romanticism of nature and how magnetized we are to it. I think it’s very instinctual that we choose to surround ourselves with nature even when we are inside in our homes. We naturally gravitate towards indoor plants, botanical and nature inspired textiles and artworks. The works are a celebration of that joyful connection and sense of wonder we have with nature.”
Kate Jarman studied Painting and Curating at The Byam Shaw School of Art and Central Saint Martins College in London. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Curtin University with a Dean’s Commendation in 2010. Kate has previously exhibited at PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Art), The Oats Factory, Buratti Gallery, Artist Open House Fremantle and Mundaring Arts Centre.

LAHAUS design studio will be open from 9am to 4pm weekdays to view Kate’s beautiful collection. Kate’s art is on display until the 16th of December 2016.
