Earlier today, Advanced Health Pharmacy announced the launch of its new Free COVID-19 Testing service. The testing is available during regular business hours for walk-ins and also by appointment for group homes, assisted living facilities and businesses that need multiple individuals tested. The pharmacy is open 9 am to 6 pm weekdays and 9 am until 12 noon on Saturday.
The initial reaction to the testing has been positive as there is no longer the need to wait in long lines or go to a medical office filled with sick people. The Owner and Pharmacist at Advanced Health Pharmacy, Arun Tandon, pointed out “the best thing you can do is get tested if you think you may be sick or have been exposed” he also pointed out some people may need a test to go back to work.
Arun Tandon continues… “We are always looking for ways to help and serve our community: and quick, easy and affordable access to COVID-19 testing is one way we can be of service. We will meet you at your car or bring the test to your group home. We do this because we believe everyone who needs a test should get one without being discouraged or inconvenienced. Ultimately this is going to be a huge benefit to our customers because you need to know if it is safe to be around other people.”

COVID-19 is another name for a novel coronavirus disease that surfaced in December 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. It is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus has resulted in more than 10.1 million cases of the disease from 188 countries and territories, causing over 502,000 deaths. Common symptoms include cough, fever, fatigue, shortness of breath, and loss of smell and taste. Most cases have no or mild symptoms, some progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome. The time from exposure to noticeable symptoms is usually about five days, but could be as little as two days and as many as fourteen days.
Currently, the closest thing to Advanced Health Pharmacy’s Free COVID-19 Testing service is impersonal testing stations and crowded medical facilities, but Advanced Health Pharmacy improved on this by providing personal, compassionate and caring service where “we know and value each of our customers as if they were family.”
