Jessa Zimmerman is a couples’ counselor and certified sex therapist. She and her expert guests share their insights, strategies, and ways of thinking about sex on a new podcast, Better Sex, that will help you improve your intimate relationship.

Cases and allegations related to sex and sexual misconduct have been headlining the news recently. However, not all stories revolving around sex and sexual conduct need to be negative.

Whether you have sexual struggles or are just looking to make your sex life even better, the role of a trained sex therapist can be to help individuals and couples improve their sexual functioning and enjoyment.

Jessa Zimmerman is a couples counselor and AASECT certified sex therapist in private practice in Seattle, WA. In her work, she helps couples who have a good relationship but who are avoiding sex because it’s become stressful, negative, disappointing, or pressured.

She is passionate about helping couples create their very best possible sex life. She states, “I started this podcast in an effort to bring information and inspiration to anyone looking to enjoy better sex with their partner.”

In today’s hustle and bustle world, we get caught up in the day-to-day grind and often find ourselves stressed and unhealthy. Factors such as these can often lead to sexual dysfunction, which is quite common.

A recent story in Modern Medicine, reports “Half of the women surveyed (52%) reported sexual dysfunction.”

The rate was 23% for males in this study and even teens and young adults share in the challenges, with 23% of females and 6% of males reporting more than one sexual dysfunction.

Much of the dysfunction is often attributed to psychological factors, not just the physiological, and this is where a sex therapist can really make some progress with a couple.

When asked about the focus of the new podcast, Zimmerman said, “Each episode will dive into one topic related to sex. Some will be devoted to addressing sexual concerns like sexual dysfunction, differences in sexual desire, and intimacy problems. Some will help you develop realistic and helpful expectations.”

A sex therapist works to help couples develop the skills and capacity for true emotional intimacy, honest and productive communication, and a satisfying and engaging sex life.

“When your intimate life suffers, your whole life suffers. Whatever it is that you are missing, or concerned about, can cast a dark shadow on what otherwise might be a wonderful relationship. My goal is to offer information and approaches that can just make your sex life better,” Zimmerman concluded.
