Fusionex International and Ivan Teh have agreed to work with the National ICT Association of Malaysia (Pikom) in its efforts to equip twenty thousand data professionals with the right skills. The goal targets 2020 as the date for completion of the project. It is believed that many graduates are unaware of what the industry is looking for currently, not to ignore its plans for growth in the future. The organization is also working closely with the Education Ministry and universities to design courses to align them with the demands of the tech industry.”According to Datuk Seri Teh, Fusionex Managing Director, “Many of today's jobs will not be around tomorrow, and the jobs which were available yesterday might not even exist in two or three years. There is real importance to form links between academia and the desires of the industry. This dissonance is an ongoing challenge, and we are making every effort to tackle the issues involved today. The skills which are much in demand include project management and data analytics.”
Another area of interest to the industry body is that of the rise of cyber threats. A link with Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM) is focused on limiting the growing menace of cyber threats. The collaboration will give CSM access to security services and solutions from its members.
Yet another collaboration is with MATTA, the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents with a goal of promoting the adoption of digital platforms in the travel industry. Many small and medium enterprises in the industry have not yet embraced and gained the benefits of digitalisation. The partnership encourages travel and tour agents to take the opportunity to market their services online. The collaboration is a step toward the embracing of the digital economy. By the use of digital methods for the market, segment opportunities can be expanded.
